Larry discusses primer substitution in .38 Special | Cast

Dec 06, 2021 · Lyman lists 6.2 gr HS-6 as their max load under a 120 gr 356402 bullet. I didn't have the Lyman bullet but have the Lee 120 gr TC bullet [123 gr cast of COWW + 2% tin], so I chose to use that load. Even though Lyman lists that load as "max" the CUP measurement of 29,300 indicates it is not a "max" load as the CUP SAAMI MAP is 33,000.

Factory crimp on cast bullets? | Shooters' Forum

Dec 06, 2019 · The LEE factory crimp die I had for revolver loads was more of a cross between a taper crimp and a neck down crimp style. For most cast bullets you should probably get a roll crimp die and use it as an additional step after bullet seating.

Lee Factory Crimp dies for cast bullets? - 24hourcampfire

I reload for about 12 different revolvers and every one of them is more accurate with jacketed bullets than cast lead. In some the difference isn't so much, with others it is. Jacketed bullets I buy for my .44s are either 0.429 or 0.4295" dia., cast bullets are usually 0.430". I cr

Oct 27, 2012 · The improved models weren't made by the Lee Precision that exists today. As I understand it somewhere around the late 70's early 80's Dick Lee was forced out of the original company Lee Custom Engineering and it was re-incorporated as Mequon Reloading Corporation. MRC went out of business in 1988 and at that point Dick Lee started Lee Precision.

"How to" load cast lead bullets | Glock Forum - GlockTalk

Mar 31, 2014 · To me, flaring the case mouth and belling the case mouth are two ways of saying the same thing. Loading lead or plated bullets, you will need a bit more bell than for jacketed bullets. This is due to the general .001 additional diameter of the lead/plated bullet AND to prevent shaving the bullet during seating.

Sep 04, 2020 · In most all my rifles cast bullet diameters are .002" to .003" over groove dia. except for my 30-06 which will only chamber a bullet sized to .309" due to a tight chamber neck. In my load notebook I just wanted a charge that would deliver 2000 FPS and that is what they chronographed in the Marlin 336. Funny thing is that I ran them for the Rem 600 in QuickLoad and that is the velocity that the program calculated! I zeroed out the scope from all the adjustments my cast bullets put it through and shot the rifle at 25 yards.
